Crowell-Collier's Influence on the American Identity

Significance to Springfield

The Crowell-Collier Co. played a significant role in Springfield.  Crowell-Collier not only provided over 2,000 jobs, but also stimulated the success of other businesses in Springfield such as paper and ink suppliers.  When the plant announced it would cease operations in December of 1956, the City of  Springfield was traumatized.
