Crowell-Collier's Influence on the American Identity

Employee Culture

Working at Crowell-Collier was a unique experience.   Over 2,000 people were employed by Crowell-Collier.  In many cases, employees often worked with several relatives.  Employees of Crowell-Collier were also provided with amenities such as a company baseball team that competed against other local manufacturing firms, and a wide array of social activities, such as employee dances and picnics.  In many ways Crowell-Collier employees functioned as their own community.
